GUAPO, which is Spanish for "handsome", originated in Toronto, Canada. We initially set out to meet local members of the LGBTQ + community (more specifically those who identify with male pronouns) that have risen above the struggle of societal pressures. This collection features individuals that have been exposed to racism, bullying, generalizations and many other forms of discrimination. We celebrate body positivity, we embrace diversity, and most of all we celebrate equality.
Over the past months, we have continued to expand this project within our city and have been fortunate enough to be in the early stages of taking it world-wide. GUAPO will be featuring portraits from Toronto, New York, Cancún, San Fransisco, Los Angeles, Bangkok, Phuket, Cambodia, Brisbane and finally Melbourne starting in September 2017.
